Past Events

The CEHAB events archive, dating back to the center’s origin as a grass-roots initiative led by faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students, showcases the diversity of humanities perspectives on today’s environmental challenges. We record many of our events, and these videos can be found linked below or on the Cogut Institute’s YouTube channel.

In the center’s inaugural year, programming has explored responses by artists, primarily from Indigenous and other minority populations, to the climate crisis, mineral extraction, and other pressing environmental concerns.
Beginning with the 2018 conference “Earth(ly) Matters: New Directions in Environmental Humanities,” the Environmental Humanities at Brown initiative built community through an array of programming, exploring subjects including climate democracy, the politics of invasive species, and ecological displacement.
